Dear Friends:
As I have worked with the American Language Center and been part of it for over 38 years, I would like to welcome all to the American Language Center, a world- renowned English language center located in the heart of Kathmandu.
Since the inception of ALC in 1968 by the American Mission in Nepal, students are continually stimulated by the variety of faces, accents, and cultures they encounter. Students who come into contact with the center are sure to widen their vision of the world through this immersive experience as well as through the opportunity to hear English as it is used in its native context.
We are dedicated to equipping and empowering our students with the language skills they need to function successfully in their chosen field. Whether they are currently in an academic or a professional environment or someone who just wants to learn for the interest of learning, ALC classes are dynamic and interactive, and focus on the practical application of skills they are learning. Our faculty are qualified and experienced in teaching English as a second or foreign language (ESL/EFL). I am proud to be associated with our faculty members who provide students with the learning tools, appropriate guidance and skills they need.
Students from Nepal and from many other countries have attended ALC over the past 50 years. We have taught employees of the Nepal Government, NGOs, INGOs, banks, hydropower companies, telecom, individual students, housewives, executives and many more who aim to better their career. Whatever the goals and objectives of the individuals who enroll in ALC programs, they leave with a greater understanding of the English language and American culture, and with increased confidence in their language abilities that will help them achieve personal, professional, and academic success.
